Taliban fighters have gained control of a police base in northeastern Afghanistan, reports the Wall Street Journal.
More than 100 policemen at the base in the Wardoj district of Badakhshan province surrendered on Saturday after the base was overrun with inside help, according to Afghan officials.
A local police commander pretended to fight, but then surrendered with 40 of his men, said officials. He then reportedly came back to base to negotiate a deal for the remaining...
