The Russian navy has decided to assign some additional vessels to the Black Sea Fleet, reports Interfax-AVN.
There are plans to deploy at least two corvettes to the fleet in the next five years, according to navy officials.
Three submarines may also be added to the fleet over the same timeframe, said a navy source.
Enlarging the fleet is not a response to U.S. plans to deploy missile defense systems in southern Europe, the source said.
