Plans Prepared For Leaving Afghanistan

The United States and other members of NATO have finalized a number of details on plans to end the war in Afghanistan, reports the New York Times.

The allies met Wednesday at NATO headquarters in Brussels.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said three commitments were agreed upon: to move the Afghans gradually into a lead combat role; to keep some international troops in Afghanistan beyond 2014; and to pay US$4 billion a year to help support...
