Plans Made For EW Unit In Kumamoto Prefecture

The Japanese Defense Ministry has decided to establish a new electronic warfare unit in the southwestern Kumamoto prefecture, reports the Jiji Press (Japan).
The 80-person unit will operate out of Camp Kengun, where a new cybersecurity unit stood up earlier this year, as part of the Ground Self-Defense Force's Western Army.
Funding for the new unit was part of the 2020 budget request, said a senior defense ministry official.
