Plans Made For Advanced Recon Planes

South Korea has decided to buy a pair of advanced signals-intelligence aircraft, Defense News reports.

The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) will release a request for proposals next month, with final bidders to be chosen by year's end, procurement officials said.

The planes could be used near North Korea by 2014, said unnamed sources.

Domestic companies LIG Nex1 and Samsung Thales are expected to bid to supply communication, electronic and foreign...
