Afghan and NATO officials say they are considering a plan that would increase the manpower target for Afghanistan's army and police to around 400,000 personnel, the Wall Street Journal reports.
The new target, which remains a matter of discussion between U.S. and Afghan officials, would be about a 30 percent increase over the current goal of 171,000 soldiers and 134,000 police, said officials.
