Plans Call For 5 Percent Cut In Defense Spending By 2015

The Canadian government has decided to reduce defense spending through 2015 by about 5 percent, reports the Globe and Mail (Toronto).
In addition to cutting US$1.1 billion, the government will postpone about US$3.5 billion in planned equipment purchases for seven years.
A US$327 million reduction is expected for the coming year, with cuts rising in subsequent years, set to reach US$1.1 billion by 2014-2015.
