Saudi officials say they are prepared to pay the salaries of fighters with the rebel Free Syria Army, reports the Guardian (U.K.).
The move has reportedly been discussed with senior officials in the U.S. and other Arab governments. The goal is to encourage more defections from the Syrian military and to increase pressure on President Bashar Assad, according to the Saudis.
