Defense sources say the Indian military will soon start its own fifth-generation fighter aircraft program later this year, reports the Times of India.
The preliminary design phase of the advanced medium combat aircraft (AMCA) is set to be completed in the next few months, said the sources.
Once the project definition and feasibility stage is completed, the Defense Ministry is expected to seek approval from the Cabinet Committee on Security.
