PLA Personnel On The Way To Djibouti To Man China's 1st Overseas Military Post

Chinese ships carrying military personnel to man a support base in Djibouti have departed Zhanjiang in southern China for the Horn of Africa, reports Xinhua, China's state news agency.

The vessels set sail on Tuesday.

China is building the base under an agreement with the government in Djibouti, noted the navy.

News of the start of construction emerged last year. The base is China's first overseas military post, noted the Wall Street Journal last August.
