Pirates Release British Couple After Ransom Is Paid

A British couple has been released by Somali pirates after a ransom was apparently paid, the Daily Telegraph (U.K.) reports.

Paul and Rachel Chandler were freed Monday in central Somalia after being held since Oct. 23, 2009.

Various media reports put the ransom from 300,000 pounds (US$482,366) to 620,000 pounds (US$996,890).
