A Russian air force training aircraft crashed in Lipetsk in western Russia on Saturday, reports Interfax-AVN.
Both pilots ejected safely.
An initial investigation indicated that the Yak-130 apparently suffered a control system failure, causing it to crash, said a top officer from Irkut, which builds the jet.
The air force has taken delivery this year of six Yak-130 trainers, which are undergoing initial operational evaluation in Lipetsk.
