Pilot Refuses To Eject As Su-25 Crashes

The pilot of a Soviet-era Su-25 has been killed when his fighter crashed in Belarus, reports RIA Novosti.

The pilot lost control of the jet on Tuesday while doing exercises in low-altitude flight, the Defense Ministry said.

The ministry said that ground control ordered the pilot to eject from the plane, but he refused in order to prevent the aircraft from hitting a neighboring village.

The Belarusian air force has over 70 Su-25 fighters dating to the 1970s.
