Petraeus Wins Committee Approval Easily

The Senate Armed Services Committee has approved Gen. David Petraeus' appointment as leader of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan, the Los Angeles Times reports.

The general faced little opposition. "You're not allowed to presume confirmation, by the way," said Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin (D-Mich.). "But I am."
