The General Command of the Kurdish peshmerga fighters in northern Iraq says that the Iraqi army and allied Shi'ite militias are getting ready to attack areas outside of Kirkuk with "foreign backing," reports Rudaw (Iraqi Kurdistan).
The preparations, which began Thursday night, carry "dangerous indications for war and aggression against Kurdistan," the command said in a Friday statement.
