Syrian President Bashar Assad says he declined an offer from Israeli President Shimon Peres that would have returned the Golan Heights to Syria in exchange for severed ties with Iran, the Jerusalem Post reports.
According to Assad, Peres also asked Syria to cut contact with the Hamas and Hezbollah terrorist groups, which are widely considered Iranian proxies.
