The Dept. of Defense is creating a new espionage service designed to focus on national intelligence of strategic importance, reports UPI.
The Defense Clandestine Service, which was approved by Defense Secretary Leon Panetta last week, will work closely with the CIA.
The new service has drawn several hundred officers from the Defense Intelligence Agency, where some already work undercover out of CIA stations at U.S. embassies, a senior defense source said.
