Pentagon Orders 2 More Replenishment Ships

The Pentagon has exercised options on a contract with San Diego-based General Dynamics National Steel and Shipbuilding Co. (GD NASSCO) to build two more cargo ships, reports the Dept. of Defense.
The $940 million contract covers construction of two Lewis and Clark-class cargo ships, T-AKE 11 and T-AKE 12, including design, technical manuals, studies and engineering and industrial services, as well as two options for long lead time materials for T-AKE 13 and T-AKE 14.
