Pentagon Orders 17 Tethered Aerostats From Lockheed

Lockheed Martin Maritime Systems & Sensors, Akron, Ohio, has been awarded a contract for lighter-than-air aerostat surveillance systems, reports the Dept. of Defense.
The $142 million contract covers 17 tethered fully integrated Persistent Threat Detection Systems (PTDS), support equipment and initial spares.
