Pentagon Makes Plans For Afghan Withdrawal

U.S. defense officials have begun drawing up plans in case President Donald Trump calls for an abrupt withdrawal from Afghanistan, reports NBC News. 

Contingency planning is ongoing, including the possibility of a complete withdrawal from Afghanistan within weeks, said three current and former defense officials. 

The work began shortly after Trump surprised Pentagon leaders with orders to immediately pull American troops from Syria.
