USA—As Pentagon Focusses On Peer Adversaries, AFRICOM Switches Strategies In Africa

A shortage of resources has led U.S. Africa Command to change up its strategy in West Africa, reports the Military Times. In the last quarter of 2019, the command shifted its focus from degrading terrorist groups in the region to containing them, reported the Defense Post. The change was due to a lack of resources and manpower in the region, according to an inspector general report released on Tuesday.
