Pentagon Develops 30-Year Aviation Plan

For the first time, the Dept. of Defense has submitted to Congress a 30-year aviation plan for the Air Force and Navy, reports the Air Force Times.

The long-term plan includes $1.9 billion to develop a next-generation bomber between 2011 and 2015, and projects a 10 percent decline in manned fighters between 2010 and 2020.

The total number of unmanned aircraft is expected to quadruple over the same period to 476 air vehicles.
