The U.S. Dept. of Defense has postponed previously announced moves to expand defense relations with China until an agreement can be reached on airborne encounters between their respective military aircraft, reports the Wall Street Journal.
The delay does not affect existing military exchanges.
The decision reflects concerns that closer ties with Beijing over the past 18 months has not prevented China from attempting to enforce its territorial claims in the region.
