Pentagon Can't Account For $2.6 Billion In Spending For Iraq

A Pentagon audit of $9.1 billion of Iraqi oil proceeds cannot account for $2.6 billion, the Washington Post reports.

Most American agencies who were supposed to spend the money on reconstruction efforts failed to adhere to rules on how to track and spend it, according to the audit.

Officials also were said to have failed to create bank accounts for $8.7 billion in the fund as mandated by the Dept. of Treasury.
