Pentagon Approves Full-Rate Production Of Marine Cobra Helicopter

The Dept. of Defense has authorized full-rate production for the U.S. Marine Corps' AH-1Z Cobra attack helicopter, reports the U.S. Naval Air Systems Command.

The helicopter was determined to be operationally effective and suitable after completing operational testing this past summer.

Plans call for a total of 189 new and remanufactured AH-1Z helicopters to be built, with deliveries expected to be complete by the end of 2021, said a release from the command.
