Peacekeeping Mandate Extended By U.N.

The Security Council has extended the mandate of a U.N. peacekeeping force in the Congo for another year, reports the U.N. News Service.
The U.N. Organization Stabilization Mission in Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) will continue its work until June 30, 2013, under the resolution adopted Wednesday.
The mission will focus on its mandate of protecting civilians and supporting Congolese authorities in their stabilization and peace consolidation efforts.
