Peacekeepers in United Nations service in the Democratic Republic of Congo have kicked off an operation to protect civilians and aid workers from armed groups in the DRC's South Kivu province, reports the U.N. News Service.
The U.N. Stabilization Mission in the DRC (MONUSCO) said it launched the Protection Shield operation in the Minembwe, Fizi and Uvira areas of South Kivu after receiving increasing reports of harassment of locals and aid workers.
