In a unanimous vote on Wednesday, the U.N. Security Council has approved the deployment of 5,500 peacekeepers to Chad and the Central African Republic (CAR), reports the U.N. News Service.
The U.N. peacekeepers will replace the European Union force that is scheduled to wrap up its mission on March 15.
The MINURCAT mission, which already has personnel in both countries, will deploy 4,900 troops and police with helicopter support to eastern Chad and 500 troops in northern CAR. ...
