President Barack Obama is expected to request a 1.4 percent military pay raise as part of the fiscal 2011 defense budget to be unveiled on Feb. 1, reports the Army Times.
If approved by Congress, the increase would be the smallest annual military pay raise since the all-volunteer force came into being in 1973.
The pay raise for 2010, which took effect on Jan. 1, was set at 3.9 percent.
