Parts Unavailability Seen Driving Up Costs Of Victoria-Class Subs

Maintenance costs for Canada's Victoria-class submarines may increase significantly due to a shortage of spare parts, reports the Chronicle Herald (Halifax).
The government has spent Can$120 million (US$95 million) on parts for the boats since 2013, including nearly Can$39 million (US431 million) since the start of 2015, according to Defense Dept. figures.
However, since the boats were designed in the late 1970s, many of their parts are no longer in production.
