Paramilitary Ordered To Quell Violence

The Sindh provincial government has authorized its paramilitary Ranger force to use police powers to end violence and improve law and order in Karachi, which has been the site of deadly political clashes over the last five days, reports the Press Trust of India.

The Rangers have been granted control of the 26 police stations in Karachi and the power to arrest, detain and interrogate suspects as well as conduct raids under anti-terrorist laws.
