Paramilitary gangs are making a resurgence of in Colombia, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Despite government denials, the gangs are gaining strength, say analysts.
Armed gangs are reappearing in Narino state, for example.
They are battling militants and drug-traffickers for control of a zone that boasts ideal coca-growing conditions as well as a coastline that provides hundreds of concealed inlets from which to ship drugs to the U.S.
