The Greek government says it is going to build a fence along its border with Turkey to deter illegal immigrants across the frontier, reports Deutsche Presse-Agentur.
The fence, measuring 10 feet (3 m) tall and 7.8 miles (12.5 km) long, is expected to be finished by April near the Evros River and town of Orestiada, according to the Citizen Protection Ministry.
The region is a weak point in the border and a site of numerous illegal crossings, Greek officials said.
