A Tunisian court has sentenced former President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali and his wife each to 35 years of imprisonment for theft and other charges, All Headline News reports.
Ben Ali, who fled to Saudi Arabia during the January uprising, was tried in absentia. The couple was also ordered to pay a $66 million fine.
The court said it would announce its verdict on charges of illegal possession of drugs and weapons on June 30.
