The Israeli military is considering the procurement of V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft for its commando force, reports Defense News.
Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz has been studying the creation of an airborne insertion and extraction unit that would be centered around a squadron of V-22s, officials and experts said.
Another possibility is that the current Shaldag (Kingfisher) airborne commando unit could be strengthened with the aircraft, said officials.
