Norway wants to buy five advanced maritime patrol aircraft from the United States, says the Norwegian Ministry of Defense.
The government has proposed buying five P-8A Poseidon aircraft from Boeing for US$1.15 billion, said a ministry statement on Friday.
"The introduction of the Poseidon aircraft is crucial for Norway to maintain a leading position and expertise on strategic conditions in northern areas," said Defense Minister Ine Soereide, as quoted by Reuters.
