The Qatari government has finalized an agreement with Turkey for Altay main battle tanks, reports the Daily Sabah (Istanbul).
Under the accord, Qatar will buy up to 100 tanks, with an initial order covering 40 vehicles, Ali Ihsan Yavuz, vice chairman of Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party, said on Tuesday.
Follow-on batches will be equipped with a new engine, currently being developed by Turkey for the tanks. The Altay prototypes have been powered by German MTU 1,500-hp...
