The Norwegian armed forces have ordered mini-UAVs that are expected to provide greater situational awareness and better security for Norwegian soldiers in Afghanistan.
The Monrovia, Calif.-based company AeroVironment announced a $4.86 million contract this week with the Norwegian Defense Logistics Organization (NDLO) for unmanned aerial vehicles.
The order consists of the small Raven UAVs, spares, training and logistics support, said company officials.
