The Naval Air Systems Command has awarded Northrop Grumman a contract for additional early warning aircraft for Japan, reports the U.S. Dept. of Defense. The US$1.36 billion contract modification covers nine E-2D Advanced Hawkeyes under the Foreign Military Sales program. Japan selected the E-2D to fulfill its next-generation airborne early warning requirement in November 2014, noted Defence Blog.
