Opposition Candidate Wins Election Redo

The opposition candidate has won in Malawi's re-running of its presidential election last week, reports the Voice of America News.
Lazarus Chakwera, the leader of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), won 58.57 percent of the votes in the election held on June 23, the head of the Malawi Electoral Commission announced on June 27.
The vote was mandated after Malawi's Constitutional Court negated the May 2019 election after widespread irregularities were found, reported the BBC News.
