Only Handful Of U.S.-Trained Syrian Rebels Fighting, Says Top General

The U.S. train-and-equip program for "moderate" Syrian rebels only has "four or five" fighters left out of an original group of 54 that are "in the fight," says a top U.S. military commander cited by NBC News.
That number is expected to grow over time, Army Gen. Lloyd Austin, the commander of U.S. Central Command, told the Senate Armed Services Committee on Wednesday.
