Okinawa Base Plan Agreement Reached, Then Postponed

The United States government has agreed to return five facilities used by its forces in Okinawa in three stages, reports Japan's Yomiuri Shimbun, citing an outline of a joint U.S.-Japan statement.

Officials from each country also agreed to develop plans to improve U.S. facilities on the Tinian and Pagan islands in the Northern Marianas, where joint U.S.-Japanese military exercises are planned.
