Lesotho's army chief has been shot and killed by rival officers in Maseru, reports the BBC.
On Tuesday morning, Lt. Gen. Khoantle Motsomotso was killed in his office at Ratjomose barracks in the capital, said defense officials.
Two senior officers entered his office and shot the general before being killed by bodyguards, said witnesses.
An investigation is underway, said local reporters.
The soldiers had recently been fired, said a defense official cited by DPA.
