Odierno Tapped To Lead Joint Forces Command

The current U.S. commander in Iraq has been named to lead the Norfolk, Va.-based U.S. Joint Forces Command, Defense News reports.

U.S. Army Gen. Raymond Odierno commands U.S. Forces Iraq, formerly called Multi-National Forces Iraq. He has served in that position since September 2008.

If confirmed by the Senate, Odierno would replace Marine Gen. James Mattis. Mattis has been rumored as the next Marine Corps commandant.
