Communist rebels in the Philippines have declared a week-long cease-fire in the central Bicol region after a typhoon struck the area on Monday and Tuesday, reports the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
The truce will extend until Dec. 12 at midnight, a New People’s Army (NPA) spokesman said on Friday.
NPA members were "instructed to do appropriate public services campaign to help those affected by [Typhoon] Tisoy," the spokesman said.
