The Pentagon has acknowledged that U.S. efforts to create an opposition Syrian rebel fighting force have had a number of problems, reports CNN.
Between 100 and 200 Syrian volunteers have started training in sites in Turkey and Jordan out of 6,000 volunteers, said a Defense Dept. spokesman on Thursday.
About 4,000 are still waiting to be fully screened by the U.S. Some 1,500 have passed, while another 200 were turned down, said the Pentagon spokesman.
