Northrop Starts Low-Rate Production For Navy Mine-Detection System

The U.S. Navy has awarded Northrop Grumman Aerospace, Melbourne, Fla., a contract for the final developmental phase before full production of its airborne laser mine-detection system, reports Avionics Intelligence.
The $27.1 million contract from the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City, Fla., covers low-rate initial production of the AN/AES-1 Airborne Laser Mine-Detection System (ALMDS).
