Northrop, Lockheed Network Prototypes Pass Preliminary Reviews

A pair of industry teams that are competing to build a major Navy computer network system have passed preliminary design reviews, reports the Navy Times.

Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin head the two teams competing to build the Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES) system. CANES is supposed to consolidate and enhance five shipboard network programs and provide a common computing infrastructure for Navy vessels.
