Northrop Grumman To Develop Army Airship

The U.S. Army has selected Northrop Grumman to develop a new long-endurance airship system, reports the defense firm.
The $517 million contract covers the development of up to three Long-Endurance Multi-Intelligence Vehicles (LEMVs) for the Army.
The firm agreed to design, develop and test a long-duration hybrid airship system within an 18-month time period, and then transport the asset to the Middle East for military assessment under the terms of the deal.
