Northrop Grumman and SandboxAQ Demonstrate Quantum Navigation on Lumberjack UAS

Northrop Grumman and SandboxAQ completed a successful joint demonstration of quantum-sensing navigation on the Lumberjack uncrewed aircraft system (UAS), announced on Sept. 9, 2026.

The test showed that the Group 3 UAS can resist jamming in GPS-denied environments by using Earth's magnetic field for navigation, while also demonstrating its ability to run multiple demonstrations to boost military training efficiency.
